Ghanaian Shito Recipe











INGREDIENTS

½ cups Fish (Herrings)


1½ cups Shrimp Powder

¾ cup Chili (Pepper) Powder
¾ cup Chili (Pepper) Powder

400g Tomato Paste


2 medium Onions


1 cup chopped Ginger


1 bulb Garlic

1 tsp Cloves Powder

2 Shrimp seasoning cubes

1/2 tsp Rosemary

2 Bay leaves

500ml Oil

1 tsp Salt


DIRECTION

- Pour oil into saucepan over medium heat then add blended onions, stir and let it simmer for 2 minutes.


- Add tomato paste, stir and let it cook for 8 - 10 minutes.


- Blend ginger, onions, garlic and pour mixture into the sauce, stir and let simmer down for 15 - 20 mins stirring occasionally.


- Add fish powder, shrimp powder, stir and then add more oil.


- Add chili powder, stir then let it simmer for 10 mins.


- Add cloves, shrimp seasoning, salt, rosemary, bay leaves, and stir and let it simmer for 5 mins


- Shito sauce is ready when it turns dark brown.
