ripe Plantains
Onions
Ginger
red Pepper
Salt to taste
Hwentia (grains of selim)
Cloves (Pepre/Dadoa Amba/Mprego Amba)
Garlic (optional)
Anise seed (Nkitinkiti) (optional)
Cooking (Vegetable) oil
PROCEDURE
Peel plantain and cut into smaller cubes.
Wash spices and blend them.
Put plantain into a bowl and add blended spices.
Stir them gently with a wooden spoon so that the plantain gets coated with the spices.
Pour oil into a shallow pan and heat it.
When hot, fetch plantain into the oil.
Stir regularly to prevent sticking.
When the colour turns golden, remove from the oil and serve it hot.
You can serve it with groundnut or eat it alone.
